Donate to help guides.vote make an impact

The guides.vote team is raising money to produce our widely praised nonpartisan guides and to distribute them to as wide an audience as possible. As our Impact Summary describes, we produced 46 guides in 2022, our initial year. For the critical 2024 cycle, we’ll produce guides to the most significant and contested state and national races, from the Presidency to US Senate and gubernatorial races, along with Secretary of State races, state Supreme Court races, and US House races, with the latter including updating our national US House guide and adding key individual House races. As we have since the guides’ inception, we’ll translate all relevant guides into Spanish.

Guides cost roughly $3,500 apiece to research, write, edit, review for nonpartisanship, translate, and publish. We’ll also be investing in outreach staffers who will get even more organizations to distribute them and expand on a previous list of groups that distributed or promoted them. We distributed 500,000 copies in 2022 through partners from the NAACP, Black Voters Matter, and Mi Familia Vota to Nonprofit Vote, Vote.org, and the US Vote Foundation, as well as Teen Vogue, MTV, and our fiscal sponsor, Youth Service America, and campus-focused groups like Andrew Goodman Foundation and Campus Vote Project. We distributed as many printed guides in six 2023 races as in all of 2022, as partners stepped up to greater commitment.

Your support will also let us approach key influencers like those who reached 780,000 people through TikToks we commissioned. We’ll also be hiring a top-flight social media person to produce plug and play toolkits for partners and promote the guides more generally.

Here’s what your money will support. For more information, see our Impact Summary.

  1. $2,000 will print 25,000 color copies of our guides for partner organizations to distribute in neighborhoods and on campuses, to primarily youth and BIPOC audiences.
  2. $3,500 will produce a nonpartisan guide to a key race, including research and writing, editing, attorney review for nonpartisanship, design, and Spanish translation.
  3. $5,000 will support a month of full-time outreach to major national and local organizations that could distribute the guides, and to key influencers who could promote them online.
  4. $10,000 will support two months of work by an outreach staffer.

Donations, which are tax deductible, should be made out to our 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor, Youth Service America (EIN 52-1500870) with a note saying For guides.vote project.
